Information
The picturesque village of Huetor Santillan is just a 2 minute drive from 'Our Place' and offers a glimpse into 'real Spain'. It is not at all uncommon to see donkeys wandering through the village! For your convenience, it has a selection of shops including, a small supermarket, post office, 2 banks, a pharmacy and a few bars and restaurants.
We are roughly 20 minutes drive from the beautiful and romantic city of Granada which is steeped in history. There you will find many places of interest for you to visit, the 'Alhambra Palace' being one of many. There is a huge array of restaurants and bars that cater for every taste and of course, many tapas bars for you to enjoy! Amble around the tiny streets that offer an abundance of beautiful gift shops and tea rooms and a true feeling of times gone by.
Between the much cooler months of November and March, there is skiing and other winter sports available on the Sierra Nevada which is roughly 1 hours drive from 'Our Place'.
The nearby village of Purullena, offers an insight into how caves became homes to many and even today, people do still inhabit them. They have a museum and gift shop which is worth a visit. They also have a small selection of ceramic shops that sell a beautiful range of gifts for yourself or your family and friends.
If you wish to visit the coast, it only takes you about 1 hours drive and the scenery en route is breathtaking.
Nerja is situated on the coast and is the home to the world famous caves that have appeared in the Guiness book of records. There you will see some amazing examples of stalagmites and stalactites and though it is a bit of a drive, (about 1 hour 30 mins) a day there is well worth it. They also have a restaurant and gift shop on site.
As we are situated on the edge of the National Park (El Parque Natural de la Sierra de Huetor) if you enjoy walking, cycling, bird watching and nature in general, to visit here is a must. There are many mapped walks here and the beautiful scenery is there for you to enjoy and absorb. Also, we've found, it's a great place to have a picnic!
Pony trekking is available fairly near by.
Our courtyard offers a perfect site for keen astronomers to use their telescopes as 'Our Place' boasts no light pollution.
As we are only a small establishment, you will be our only guests and guaranteed a far more personal service.
